What is Afrique performs?
Afrique Performs founded by Chanje Kunda is a writing and performance initiative based in Manchester.
Afrique Performs creates a range of empowering poetry, and multi- media theatre which tours nationally and is currently building international links to further expand the impact of their work.
Afrique Performs combines this work with social enterprise projects for marginalised groups and young people. We aim to improve confidence and communication skills, as well as help to break down barriers to participation in the Arts, Music and Cultural Industries.

Chanje Kunda is a nationally recognised, poet, playwright and performance artist.
What kind of work do we do?
Spoken Word & Multi Media Performances, Poetry and Music Projects, Arts in Education, Arts in Health, Public Art, Community Projects.
Collaborators have included Lime Art, Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester Museum, Royal Exchange Theatre, Broke ‘n’ English Music Collective and ZID Theatre Amsterdam.

Who else works for Afrique performs?
Carmelle Cox is the Arts Administrator for Afrique Performs and started this role in November 2010. She ensures the smooth running of the office and is the first port of call if you have any questions or enquiries about Afrique Performs/Chanje Kunda. Carmelle studied Events, Music and Media Management at London Metropolitan University.
